Freedom to Roam
Our aim
Freedom to Roam is an online and print literary journal that publishes fiction and poetry.
Our mission is to link sport and fiction, via play. To allow sport to stand as high culture, rather than a mere pastime.
Philosopher Eugen Fink: ‘In play we enjoy the possibility of retrieving lost possibilities – indeed, even far beyond this, of attaining the openness of a mode of existence that is not determined and not bound. We regain, in a sense, our possibilities of acting anew.’
Who we are
My name is Tom and I'm a PhD researcher in English with Creative Writing from the University of York, UK. You can find some of my other work on sports fiction here and here. I lead the journal's editorial team, made up of alumni and colleagues from the university.
